The Insight Program

The Insight Program aims to address two major problems faced by Harvard students from backgrounds that are underrepresented within CBE: disparities in access and lack of effective support networks. The Insight Program aims to provide prospective analysts with mentorship and resources to support them through the recruitment process and beyond.

The Curriculum

The Insight Program will run during summer 2021, from July to August. Each week will cover a different module, starting with a training workshop and ending with preparing for CBE's recruitment process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who is this program for?

A: This program serves students from backgrounds that include, but are not limited to, those who identify as women, black, Latinx, part of an Indigenous group, and/or part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Q: What if I have no consulting experience?

A: No prior knowledge of consulting is necessary to apply for the Insight Program! We welcome students of all backgrounds and hope to cultivate your unique skillset. Throughout the Insight Program, you will have the support of your CBE Mentor, your team lead, and the entire CBE board. We value hard work and a desire to learn above any prior experience.

Q: Will I be able to learn about the CBE membership experience?

This program is designed to immerse participants in professional development training, as well as the wider CBE community. We have engagement events planned throughout the program to ensure you can interact with other students and learn more about the CBE experience from a variety of perspectives.

Q: What is the weekly time commitment for the Insight Program?

A: Most students will spend no more than 5-6 hours per week. This time may vary depending on whether you wish to receive additional professional development training or spend more time with your CBE Mentor. We understand that many students have other obligations during the summer and are more than willing to discuss accommodations to ensure all students can receive the full benefits of the Insight program.

Q: Does participation in the Insight Program guarantee acceptance to CBE?
A: No, participating in the program does not guarantee acceptance to CBE. However, participants will build their leadership and problem-solving skills, receive training in resume-building and interview strategies, and be matched with a CBE Mentor. As a result, participants will be better prepared for CBE's application process in the fall! Please note that not participating in the program will also not hurt one's standing when applying.

No background experience in consulting is necessary for the Insight Program.
